Judge Rejects Plea Deal for Mexican Rapper Charged in Fatal OWI Crash

MARION COUNTY, Ind. — A judge has rejected the plea agreement for the Mexican rapper accused of killing a Lyft passenger in a crash in downtown Indianapolis last September.
During a sentencing hearing Friday, the Marion County judge said she could not accept the plea agreement for Brayan Camacho Calleja, also known as El Moreno Mexicano, stating “it doesn’t adequately reflect the nature of the allegations.”
Calleja was set to plead guilty to causing death when operating a motor vehicle while intoxicated and three counts of criminal recklessness committed with a deadly weapon. If the judge accepted the plea, charges, including reckless homicide, would’ve been dismissed.
At around 3 a.m. on Sept. 20, 2025, Aaron Deandre Radford, 31, was killed in a crash at the intersection of North East and East Ohio streets. Court documents state that Calleja was driving 94 mph just seconds before the fatal crash and 77 mph at the time of the collision.
Investigators also said that Calleja had a blood alcohol content of 0.108 in the crash that killed Radford.
A new trial date has been set for Nov. 30. Calleja is in the U.S. illegally and could be deported if convicted.
