BLOOMINGTON, Ind. — Imagine having your debit card stolen at a funeral…and later used at a Build-A-Bear Workshop. Police say that’s what recently happened to one person in Bloomington.

According to officers, Amy Dowden stole the debit card from a woman’s purse at The Funeral Chapel. She then used that card to buy more than 70 dollars-worth of product at the College Mall Build-A-Bear.

And, Bloomington Police say this is not the first time that Dowden has committed this type of crime.

In fact, multiple similar reports involving the woman have been made just this year, for which she is facing charges. She apparently used stolen cards at Domino’s, Hardee’s, Amazon, Harbor Freight, and more.

As for how officers came to arrest her for this crime, they say she used a personal rewards account at the Build-A-Bear, in addition to the stolen card.

The woman has been charged with fraud and theft in connection with this crime. She is currently sitting at the Monroe County Jail.
