Tara Reade Allegations Prompt Calls for Bernie Sanders to Reinstate His Campaign, Revoke Endorsement of Biden
Former Bernie Sanders campaign staffers and supporters are urging the Vermont Senator to withdraw his support for Joe Biden’s presidential run after former Senate staff aide Tara Reade accused the former Vice President of assaulting her in 1993.
A decades-old clip from an episode of Larry King Live recently resurfaced, adding weight to Reade’s claims. The 1993 video shows the presumed mother of Tara Reade talking about “problems” her daughter faced in reporting the alleged sexual harassment and assault.
“I’m wondering what a staffer would do besides go to the press in Washington?” a female caller from San Luis Obispo says. “My daughter has just left there, after working for a prominent senator, and could not get through with her problems at all, and the only thing she could have done was go to the press, and she chose not to do it out of respect for him.”
King asked the woman, “She had a story to tell but, out of respect for the person she worked for, she didn’t tell it?”
The caller replied, “That’s true.”
Now some Sanders backers are suggesting Biden drop out and delusionally holding out hope that Sanders’ suspended presidential campaign could somehow be revived.
“Dear @DNC , you have two options: 1. Pull Biden now and win with Bernie 2. Keep Biden, re-elect Trump, and admit that suppressing progressives is the true purpose of your party,” tweeted former Sanders 2016 campaign outreach director Nick Brana, who included the hashtag #DropOutBiden.
“Progressives didn’t make this happen. Corporate Democrats chose Biden,” former Sanders press secretary Briahna Joy Gray tweeted. Gray also added: “It’s a good time to note that Bernie’s on the ballot.”
Former Bernie Sanders 2016 campaign staffer Tezlyn Figaro appeared on Fox News Monday to question why Sanders has remained silent on the allegations.
“When I look at Joe Biden and who’s holding him accountable, it’s his voters,” Figaro told “Fox & Friends” Monday, claiming that Biden’s supporters do not appear to be concerned. “But the question really is what about Bernie Sanders and the millions of millions of people that support him? Why is Bernie Sanders also quiet on this issue?”
Figaro said Monday morning that Sanders should get back in the race or stay out of the picture.
“Sanders should either reactive his campaign or sit down. It is wrong to keep playing these #BernieOnTheBallot #DropOutBiden games when he knows damn well he has already sealed the deal,” she tweeted.
WIBC host Tony Katz offered his own criticism of the media for their relative silence on Tara Reade’s allegations against former Vice President Biden. Click below to hear Tony’s full commentary.
