IMPD Hosts Event to Get More Female Officers

INDIANAPOLIS — The Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department celebrated the women who helped with their department.  

There was an event hosted for women, which was called Her Badge, Her Impact.  

This event was an opportunity for women who talked about becoming a part of the department and to go through the training process.  

The department has hopes for these women to become officers, as well as feeling inspired to help the community. Many women came to Saturday’s event, including a woman named Luey Lirarno. She says seeing many women stepping up to become officers is a good thing to see in this world.  

Since March 1st, the department has approved over 1,000 officers.
