ICE ARRESTS

INDIANAPOLIS – A video of ICE agents stopping two Honduran men in Indianapolis is gaining attention. The men were pulled over near 29th Street and I-65 on February 28, reportedly on their way to work.

In the video, an ICE agent holds the passenger’s wrist and points a firearm at him, while the driver, speaking in Spanish, asks why they were stopped.

“The men who came to this van didn’t read their rights to them,” said Jannette Kennedy, a friend of one of the men, in an interview with WISH-TV. “They kept asking what they did, but the agents didn’t tell them anything. They were using some harsh words in Spanish when the men asked why they were being stopped, and they were just trying to comply.”

The agents don’t respond but continue ordering the men to open the door. ATF and Homeland Security officers later arrive, and the passenger is removed from the van.

A friend who shared the video questions the level of force used. Public records show that neither man faces criminal charges from the stop. One man’s wife says he had a work permit that may have expired and is the primary provider for their family.

Both men were taken to the Marion County Jail before being transferred to an immigration facility. One remains in custody as of Sunday, while the other was moved to a Louisiana facility used for deportation flights.

His wife expects he will soon be deported to Honduras.
