BUTLER, Ind.–A rape charge has been filed against the owner of a massage parlor in Butler.

State police say they started to investigate Butler Creative Touch Massage shortly after a woman said she was inappropriately touched by the owner of the parlor while getting a massage.

During that investigation, police say another woman came forward and said she experienced something similar two years prior.

Officers say they interviewed the owner/massage therapist James Whitman and discovered he had practiced massage therapy for over 10 years in Butler, but found that he was not licensed through the State of Indiana. He does, however, hold a certificate from the Center for Vital Living School of Massage Therapy.

Police say they turned the investigation over to the DeKalb County Prosecutor’s Office. That office was able to secure an arrest warrant for Whitman. Whitman was arrested Wednesday afternoon for rape, a level 3 felony.

Whitman is in the DeKalb County Jail awaiting an initial hearing.
