JASPER COUNTY, Ind.–A trooper and three other people saved someone who was involved in a crash in Jasper County on Wednesday.

State Police say a blue 2008 Chevrolet Silverado was going north on I-65 when the driver lost control and the Silverado went off the road about a mile and a half south of the State Road 10 exit for Demotte.

The Silverado eventually rolled and hit a tree that was about 50 feet from the road. A trooper named Martin Benner and three other people stopped to help. The passenger inside the Silverado was not responsive. Benner began performing CPR on that passenger until paramedics arrived at the scene.

It took approximately 20 minutes for emergency medical personnel to arrive at the scene because of icy road conditions. The driver was not hurt. Once first responders got there, they took the passenger for a hospital to be treated.

Drugs and alcohol were not a factor in the crash.
