Driver Killed In Crash Between Car And Semi In Greenwood

UPDATE: The Johnson County Coroner has identified the woman who died in the crash as 32-year-old Irish Smith. She was from Indianapolis. 

GREENWOOD, Ind. — A semi and a car collided in Greenwood early Wednesday morning resulting in a person being killed.

It happened near Graham Road and Allen Road at around 2:15 a.m., right by the Nestle Waters warehouse. Witnesses who called 911 say a sedan became pinned under the semi-truck.

When police and other first responders arrived they said the driver of the sedan was found dead. The driver of the semi was unharmed and stayed at the scene to speak with investigators.

Greenwood police are now looking into what led to the crash. The crash caused some traffic delays in Greenwood as the scene was still closed off during rush hour.
