INDIANAPOLIS–A body was found while firefighters were investigating a fire on Indy’s west side Saturday morning.
The Indianapolis Fire Department says the fire happened at a building in the 3000 block of West Washington Street, which is near the intersection of North Tibbs Avenue and West Washington Street. That is not far from Providence Cristo Rey High School.
The first group of firefighters arrived at 8:07 am. The victim was found at 8:16 am and pronounced dead at the scene four minutes later.
Firefighters got the fire under control just before 8:40 am. They are trying to figure out how the person died and what caused the fire.
