Westfield Mom Curses Out Teen Over TPUSA Bracelets — And Local Leaders Are Nowhere to Be Found
A grown woman cursed out a 17-year-old girl over a bracelet, and the silence from Westfield, Indiana’s leadership is deafening. That’s the story Tony Katz says nobody in local government wants to touch.
“The story here is what is it about these liberal women that makes them think they can act like this?” Katz asked on 93.1 WIBC — and he wasn’t interested in a polite answer.
The incident happened at Westfield High School’s “Rock the Block” back-to-school event, where Sophia Hunt, president of the school’s Turning Point USA Club America chapter, was handing out red, white and blue bracelets with her club’s secretary and treasurer. A young boy reached for one. His mother yanked him away — and then, according to Hunt, exploded.
“Why the F are you asking me if I’m okay?” the woman allegedly snapped when Hunt checked on her. Hunt says the woman then slapped a bracelet out of her hand, cursed at the students, and called them racist, homophobic and “disgusting” for supporting what she described as a hate group.
Hunt’s account, first shared publicly and amplified by the account Libs of TikTok, has racked up attention online — but not, Katz points out, from the people whose job it is to respond.
“No message that I have seen thus far from the superintendent, no message from the principal, and no message from Mayor Scott Willis,” Katz said, noting he waited days for any official condemnation before going on-air. Nothing came.
For Katz, this isn’t a one-off tantrum — it’s a symptom. He argued an entire generation has been taught that “feelings are everything” and that anyone who challenges those feelings is automatically the enemy — which, translation: never having to control yourself, ever, even as an adult screaming at a high school senior.
“She’s wrong. She isn’t right, she’s wrong. She’s as wrong as wrong can be,” Katz said flatly, adding that what the woman did was “despicable and disgusting” — and that real leadership means saying so publicly, not staying quiet and hoping it blows over.
Katz didn’t stop at criticizing the mother. He challenged Westfield’s leadership directly to say, on record, that adults don’t talk to teenage girls this way — and he’s offering to speak to the Turning Point chapter himself, free of charge, if invited.
The mother has not been publicly identified by name in this reporting. The Westfield mayor’s office, school superintendent, and school principal have not issued public statements addressing the incident as of this writing.
