INDIANAPOLIS — A pregnant woman walking on the south side of Indianapolis was hit and killed when an IMPD officer hit her with is cruiser Wednesday evening.

In a news release, IMPD said Ofc. Jonathan Henderson, who has been on the force for 22-years, was traveling northbound on South Harding Street approaching I-465 when he hit someone as he was approaching the on-ramp to the interstate.

The woman has been identified as 23-year-old Ashlynn Lisby.

Henderson immediately called for help and gave first aid to Lisby. EMT’s got there and took her to Eskanazi hospital in critical condition. Her injuries were too severe and police say she and her unborn child were pronounced dead.

Investigators say it was an accident and do not believe “driver impairment is a factor in this incident.”
