Evansville Man Charged with Child Exploitation, Solicitation

EVANSVILLE, Ind. — An Evansville man faces felony charges related to child pornography and soliciting minors for sexual acts.
According to the Vanderburgh County Sheriff’s Office, Christopher William Evans, 42, was taken into custody at his home Thursday following a months-long investigation that started in February.
A cybertip from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children (NCMEC) led detectives assigned to the Indiana Internet Crimes Against Children (ICAC) Task Force to investigate Evans for distributing suspected child sexual abuse material. Investigators say the tip identified an IP address associated with the app Kik that had been used to distribute suspected child sexual abuse material. Detectives obtained subpoenas to identify the subscriber of the IP address which was traced to Evans.
While being detained, investigators say Evans confessed to downloading and distributing child pornography and using Kik Messenger to solicit minors. Multiple electronic devices were also seized from his home for forensic examination.
Evans has been charged with Level 5 felonies of Child Exploitation, Possession of Child Pornography, and Child Solicitation. He’s been booked into the Vanderburgh County Jail and is being held without bond pending a court hearing.
