INDIANAPOLIS — Police are investigating after a man was shot and killed at a motel on the city’s south side Tuesday morning, according to the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department (IMPD).

Officers were called to the 4900 block of S. East St. at approximately 7:25 a.m. on reports of a shooting. When they arrived, they found an adult male in the parking lot with gunshot wounds.

EMS transported the victim to a nearby hospital in critical condition, where he was later pronounced dead.

Homicide detectives are leading the investigation, with assistance from the Indianapolis-Marion County Forensic Services Agency, which is collecting potential evidence.

The Marion County Coroner’s Office will determine the cause and manner of death and release the victim’s name after notifying next of kin.
