INDIANAPOLIS — Wednesday’s weather throughout Indiana could get messy.

WISH-TV Meteorologist Marcus Bailey says most of the state will see a wintry mix of freezing rain and sleet, and even snow, but the timing is what concerns him.

“It could be all of those types of precipitation for an extended period of time,” Bailey said. “Freezing rain is going to be the utmost concern in terms of travel, and it could start as early as the evening commute.”

He says that type of weather at that time of the day always makes things substantially more difficult, and suggests giving yourself extra time driving home Wednesday.

“Maybe even sneak out of work early, if you can,” Bailey said.

Bailey says he would draw a line from Crawfordsville, to Tipton to Hartford City, and anywhere south of those areas will see freezing rain and sleet, mixed in with some snow. However, northern Indiana — anywhere north of Lafayette, Kokomo and Marion — could see more snow than anything else. Bailey says some areas could see 2-4″ of snow by Thursday morning.
