A Teenager Shot on Halloween on Indy’s East Side

INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) — A teenager was shot and killed late Thursday on Indy’s east side.
It happened near Cumberland Road and East 21st around 7:00 while kids were still out trick or-treating.
The Marion County Coroner’s Office identified the teenager as 17-year-old Dashawn Gilbert.
“Halloween is supposed to be a time where you are out with your family and having fun. It’s a great time for the kids, and to have a violent, tragic event happen in their neighborhood really is very disturbing,” says IMPD Officer Rob Rider.
There were no arrests, but police do not believe there are any lingering threats to the public. They also haven’t said if they’re looking for any suspects.
