NWS: Warm Start to Next Week, Rain Possible on Halloween

STATEWIDE–After rain moved through parts of Indiana Friday morning, it’s not likely that you’ll see any of it until next week.

“While it was great to see the rain this morning, it was not enough to put a significant dent in the dry conditions. I don’t anticipate it raining the rest of the day,” said Mike Ryan, meteorologist with the National Weather Service in Indianapolis.

The latest U.S. Drought Monitor shows most of Indiana under either severe or moderate drought.

Ryan does believe temperatures will drop down into the 30s across Indiana Friday night, which makes frost possible in some spots.

“If there’s any frost in central Indiana, it would be north of Indianapolis,” said Ryan.

There’s very little of chance of rain again this weekend, but that could change next week.

“Even that doesn’t look like significant rain at this point. But next week, we’ll have a little bit of everything, which is kind of normal for Indiana weather in the fall,” said Ryan.

Many places in Indiana could see close to record-high temperatures Tuesday and Wednesday. Ryan believes there also could be close to 40 mph wind gusts at times.

There is a possibility for rain on Halloween, which is Thursday night.

“The front will come through Thursday and cool things down a little bit, but it won’t be a cold Halloween like last year. The general thought is that it will be cooler this weekend and then beginning Monday, we’ll be above normal temperatures,” said Ryan.
