Teenager Charged in Beech Grove Girl’s Murder

BEECH GROVE, IND — A 15-year-old boy has been arrested for the shooting death of 18-year-old Makayla Sue Bauman in Beech Grove. Bauman was shot Sunday night, just weeks before her 19th birthday.

Police say they responded to reports of a shooting on Riva Ridge Drive around 9:05 p.m. and found Bauman with gunshot wounds. Initially reported in critical condition, the coroner later confirmed her death.

The Beech Grove Police Department is leading the investigation; no further details have been released. Riva Ridge Drive is just a few blocks from Bauman’s parents’ home.

The Beech Grove Police Department said Monday night that the boy was arrested after police executed a search warrant at a home near 34th Street and Emerson Avenue.
