IMPD Says two are Dead After a Believed ‘Murder-Suicide’

INDIANAPOLIS — Two people are dead in a murder-suicide on the east side late Thursday around 8:00.
Police were called to North Chester Avenue for a welfare check, and they attempted to contact the person they were checking on but noticed a strange odor coming from the house. After announcing their presence, they entered through an unlocked door.
Police discovered two individuals injured, believed to be an adult man and a woman, who were pronounced dead at the scene.
“Detectives preliminarily believe this to be a murder-suicide,” police said, “however, that has not been confirmed.”
Homicide detectives with the department are investigating the incident, officials said. The Marion County Coroner’s Office will determine the exact cause and manner of death. Additionally, the coroner’s office will release the identities of the deceased after notifying their closest-living relative.
