"Unusual" Shooting Injures Man On Northeast Side Of Indy

INDIANAPOLIS — A man was shot on the northeast side of Indianapolis overnight.

IMPD says it was “unusual circumstances” that led to a man being found wounded early this morning along 40th Street. The man who was shot was taken to an area hospital. Police haven’t said how badly the man was hurt.

The man said he was shot in the area of 21st Street at an apartment complex, but police were unable to find a crime scene in that area. It seems the man waited over a half hour before calling the police about the shooting.

“It is a little unusual that this actually occurred around three o’clock in the morning, but the adult male came to this address [on East 40th Street] and waited 30 to 40 minutes before calling in, stating that he had been shot,” said IMPD Capt. Don Weilhammer.

It’s not clear who may have shot the man. Police are urging anyone who knows anything to come forward.
