WARSAW, Ind. — State Police are now involved in the investigation into a former church pastor in northern Indiana, accused of sexually assaulting a member of his congregation.

Pastor John Lowe II recently stepped down as pastor of the New Life Christian Church. In a video that has gained a lot of attention online, Lowe is seen admitting to his congregation during a service “I committed adultery.”

The moment snowballed though, as a woman then took to the podium immediately afterward and publicly accused Lowe of sexually assaulting her many years ago when she was 16-years-old.

Originally, the Kosciusko County sheriff’s department was handling the case, but in a news release Wednesday, Indiana State Police confirmed that they have taken over the investigation. It’s said that the sheriff’s department had a conflict of interest and could go no further with the case.

Still, the sheriff’s office says they are helping however they can.

Some members of the New Life congregations are demanding that not only Lowe be brought up on charges, but that the church also be shuttered.
