MEMPHIS–Miss Indiana USA, Alexis Lete, finished third-runner up in the Miss USA pageant Monday in Memphis, Tennessee. Now, Lete is trying to figure out what comes next.

“I want to be a game show host. I want to be on national television being my quirky self and inspiring others to do the same,” said Lete. “The show I want to host probably hasn’t been invented yet. I want a show that shows athletic ability or athletes and comedy. I want to have a mixture.”

Lete graduated from New Albany High School and was the valedictorian. She went to George Washington University on a full athletic scholarship to play volleyball, where she earned a degree in broadcast journalism and communication.

Lete has lived by the motto “Break the Mold,” which she uses to empower women and encourage people to be their own, unique self.

“Society tells us to feel some way or be some way, especially with social media telling us what the standards of beauty are, what your body should look like, or how you should act,” said Lete. “I always find when I’m trying to fit in or be what somebody else wants, I’m miserable. But whenever I’m just being myself, I am feeling so confident and so happy. I just say, ‘Break the mold’ because society puts us in the mold, but you don’t have to put yourself in it.”

Lete believes Miss USA is about so much more than winning an award or recognition.

“We want someone who is going to be a role model and not just for the few minutes those judges are going to see them on stage, but for the whole year as Miss USA,” said Lete.

Asya Branch of Mississippi won the Miss USA 2020 title.

Lete made several appearances across Indiana before the Miss USA competition. She felt she represented the “humility and kind people who are in Indiana” to the best of her ability.

Lete is also known for setting a Guinness World Record for the farthest volleyball set into a basketball hoop. She is also trained in lightsaber combat.
