PHOENIX — Vice President Pence says “there will be no compromising safety” on creating and distributing a coronavirus vaccine nationwide.

Speaking with reporters in Arizona, Pence said that President Trump initiated “Operation Warp Speed” to speed up the development of a vaccine and prepare supplies such as syringes for when it will be distributed.

“We put a team in place that’s working now with the better part of half a dozen,” Pence said. “A very promising vaccine development. We’re hopeful before the end of this year we will have a vaccine available for the American people.”

He also ensures you any vaccine that is developed will be safe.

“There will be no compromising on the safety of a vaccine,” he added. “We’re going to go through the process, but the president has made it very clear that we’re not going to wait to produce vaccines until we go through all the clinical trials that are typical.

In the meantime, Pence suggested that those who have recovered fully from COVID-19 donate convalescent plasma to help treat other patients. Pence nearly one million Americans have fully recovered from the virus, while more than two-point-seven million have become infected in the U.S.
