The Cato Institute has just released a provactive essay on immigration, “Forget the Wall Already, It’s Time for the U.S. to Have Open Borders,” and WIBC host Tony Katz has just eviscerated their argument.

According to the article by contributor Jeffrey Miron, “The solution to America’s immigration problems is open borders, under which the United States imposes no immigration restrictions at all. If the U.S. adopts this policy, the benefits will far outweigh the costs.”

According to Miron, not only will we remove the stigma associated with illegal immigration, but we’ll save money on border enforcement and countries will suddenly start sending their very best and brightest to America.

Obviously, Miron’s argument fails to take into account the danger from terrorism alone that America would face as a result of uncontrolled access to U.S. soil.

Katz:

“They don’t have the argument. They don’t have the argument at all. There is without a doubt a safety consideration that has to be acknowledged when it comes to the border.

We are not in the days of the 1920s; we are in the days of 2020. And we have to recognize that there are threats that are more readily available in the modern age than there was previously.”
