Child Dies in Rush County House Fire
The Rush County Sheriff's Department and the Indiana State Fire Marshal's Office are investigating what caused the blaze.
RUSH COUNTY, Ind. — A child is dead in a house fire in Rush County on Thursday.
The Rush County Sheriff’s Department responded to the blaze at a home in Arlington near East U.S. Highway 52 at around 2 p.m.
Firefighters found the home to be fully engulfed in flames. They learned that a small child was located inside the home. Attempts to save the child were unsuccessful and the Rush County Coroner’s Office pronounced the child dead at the scene.
The cause of the fire is under investigation by the Rush County Sheriff’s Department and the Indiana State Fire Marshal’s Office.
The child’s identity has not yet been released.
