The Indiana Fever Deserves An Apology
The Indiana Fever deserves an apology. Claims of racism at Gainbridge against Chicago Sky players are unsubstantiated. Indiana Fever and its fans deserve an apology from Angel Reese and her team.
So, the WNBA has determined that there was no bigotry that took place. There was not at all a racist statement made by Fever fans at that game with the Chicago Sky.
I’m very happy to see that.. a statement was made by The Fever in response to the recently concluded investigation Pacers Sports and Entertainment CEO Mel Raines issues the following statement.
There was an account that I thought was the Indiana Fever, but it’s not actually the Indiana Fever saying we demanded an apology. And I’m like, that is actually what the Fever should be doing. They deserve an apology, the Pacers deserve an apology, and I think the Pacers should demand an apology. The Fever should demand an apology, starting with the Chicago Sky that lied about Hoosier fans because I mean, that’s the fun thing to do, right? “Ohh Indiana, we’ll just claim racism.” You know everyone will buy into that. I wouldn’t believe anything Angel Reese said. You, you want to be the heel, be the heel. That would have been fine if your play could actually keep up with the words that you say, but you’re not even that. You’re not even that… it’s just it’s beyond fraudulent. You took an entire organization. And you said let’s throw it under the bus. You keep hurting the WNBA. Don’t get me wrong, the WNBA does plenty to itself. Uh, players promoting what a good guy George Floyd was:
Stop it. The WNBA knows they’re wrong. Say so. Well, the guys could say it. WNBA, you’re not the guys. You could say whatever you want. But it’s gonna come back to haunt. This idea that hate speech was put in Angel Reese’s direction, that nothing was substantiated. Where is the penalty for Angel Reese? Where is the penalty for doing harm to the reputation of Indiana and the Fever and the Pacers organization and Gainbridge Fieldhouse? Where’s the penalty? These people deserve to be punished. You can’t lie. By the way, Angel Reese, if someone says they think you stink, they think you’re terrible. They think you’re awful. Not hate speech. You’re not great. By WNBA standards, you’re not great. Rebounds. Listen, if you want to make a career being Dennis Rodman, I’m not gonna tell you no. But you’re not Dennis Rodman. And every time something doesn’t go your way, is this gonna be the claim? Ohh look what happened again. And on a very personal level, it’s going after Hoosiers… I don’t think we should take it, which is why I would like to see the Pacers organization. As a whole, say, this is unacceptable. We’re not gonna take this. I would like to see them standing up for Hoosiers and for the people who come to these games. If you go to a game and every time you go to a game, someone’s gonna call you a bigot, right? Someone’s gonna make some accusation. Do you keep wearing the jersey of the team you’re going to see? No, they associate it with bigotry, and then you don’t. That’s what’s happening here. It’s cheap. And I’m saying the Chicago Sky are cheap and Angel Reese is cheap. And if you say to me, Tony, she actually thought she heard it, everybody gets one. What happens when there’s another allegation and another and another? And I’m not even saying that someone won’t say something stupid from time to time. People do stupid things from time to time. They went after the organization. They went after Indiana. I don’t want to take that. I don’t think that we should. I don’t think the Fever should. I think they deserve better, even at times where I think they don’t treat themselves better. They deserve better than this and the Pacers should say so and they should very loudly say it to set the tone. That we’ve got Caitlin Clark and we’ve got the premier WNBA team, and we’re not going to be pushed around. We’re gonna push back so hard you’re not gonna know what happened. If you got a problem with that, well, then, you know, bless your heart.
