INDIANAPOLIS — A 15-year-old suspect is now being charged as an adult for a robbery that turned deadly in northwest Indianapolis last year.

According to court records, the two suspects, who were 14 and 16 at the time, attempted to rob a resident of the Westbury apartments on Beverly Hills Drive in mid-September 2024.

The attempted robbery quickly turned into a shooting after the victim, Jerry Thompson Jr., 38, refused to led the two would-be-thieves into his home. Authorities said Thompson was shot in the face and died.

The two suspects were identified as Muhammadou Ali and Tyrann Brown, who just turned 15 in November. Both have had their cases waived into adult court.

The murder weapon was reportedly found in Brown’s backpack next to his school books, although the affidavit in the case does not mention which of the two teens actually pulled the trigger during the robbery attempt.

Brown made his initial hearing in adult court on Thursday. Both suspects are being held without bond pending trial.
