STATEHOUSE — Indiana’s Senate interns learned just how much they are appreciated Wednesday as each was recognized with a special resolution on the Senate floor.

Students from colleges and universities from Indiana and as far away as the University of Cincinnati were recognized for their work, which included everything from getting food for the Senators, to helping with bill tracking.

State Se. Travis Holdman, a Republican from Arkle, recognized one intern with whom he was particularly impressed.

“We had a member of our staff who had a tough time financially,” he said. “One of these interns took a collection from all the other interns to help out that member of the staff to help get him out of trouble.”

“Interns bring youthful energy, fresh perspectives and innovative thinking to the legislative process,” he said.

Scholarships were given out to select interns to reward their service. Separate resolutions were passed for interns for both the majority and minority parties.
