Fatal Crash in Hamilton County Wednesday Morning
WESTFIELD, Ind.–A car and a semi-truck collided this morning in Westfield, causing one person to die.
The Westfield Police Department says they were notified about the crash on U.S. 31 just north of 161st Street just before 7 am. They say a man drove his car through the grassy median and left the southbound lanes of U.S. 31 to go onto the northbound lanes of 31. He would eventually hit a semi. The man driving the car did not survive.
The driver of the semi was taken to a hospital with injuries but is expected to be okay.
The northbound lanes of U.S. 31 between 161st Street and 169th Street were closed for about six hours after the crash and reopened around 1 p.m.
