Why Washington Street Intersection is Closed For Over a Week
INDIANAPOLIS – Citizens Energy Group says the intersection of E Washington Street and State Avenue is now closed to allow for a water main relocation. They also say it is preparing the site for future roadway construction associated with IndyGo’s Blue Line.
Crews expect that this closure will last for about eight days. Signage near the site has previously advised travelers of the coming closure.
During the full closure of the intersection, detour signs will lead traffic around the construction using various eastside thoroughfares. Commercial trucks and large vehicles in particular are advised to strictly follow the signed detour to avoid clearance issues and tight turns.
Citizens Energy Group expects to be working at several locations on Washington Street in the near future.
