Tony Katz:

So, are we somehow done on property taxes? Is this all now said and done and finished? One mayor takes us up on our offer to talk. We don’t hear from anybody else? No one else has anything to say? Are we all said and done about Indianapolis Metropolitan Police, and the participating in immigration sweeps? The chief, Chris Bailey, doesn’t respond. I don’t know. It’s an odd place, this Indiana. It is an odd, odd place. How things get done here and the lack of communication that takes place. The Senate voting to move property tax relief forward. It was a 37 to 10 vote. There was a bipartisan coalition to defeat the measure. That I guess as a reported there are there are issues. What are? What are the issues? Is the issue that the original plan would have reduced costs for Hoosiers by 1.2 billion and now it’s 300 million in the first year, 800 million in the second year? What is? What is the real issue? The real issue is that the local municipality needs the money and won’t accept the fact that maybe they’ll have to do with less. “Well, if we do with less, that’s going to be less firefighters and police and people are going to die.” This is the argument that they desperately want to make. It is certainly a tough argument. But does not seem to connect with the fact that people are paying more all the way around… They don’t understand where Hoosiers are at all.
