Fatal Crash on I-65 Southbound Near Southport Road

INDIANAPOLIS–A fatal crash on I-65 southbound near Southport Road resulted in a semi-truck catching fire, causing a 5-mile traffic backup Thursday morning.
State Police closed southbound lanes as firefighters worked to control the blaze. The crash was confirmed to be a single-vehicle fatal incident.
Traffic into Indianapolis on I-65 was backed up to the County Line Road exit as of 11:45 a.m.
State Police Sergeant John Perrine says he expects to cleanup to take most of the rest of the day. You are urged to avoid the area.
