Colts Nearly Rally From Deficit, But Fall Short to Houston

HOUSTON, TX.–The Houston Texans completed their regular season sweep over the Indianapolis Colts with a 23-20 win on Sunday at NRG Stadium.
The Colts led 10-3 after a 69-yard touchdown pass from Anthony Richardson to Josh Downs. That was one of only two passes Richardson completed in the first half. He completed 2 of 15 passes for 81 yards with the touchdown and an interception in the first half. He went 10 of 32 for 175 yards passing.
The Colts trailed by as many as 10 in the second half, but cut it to 23-20 on a Jonathan Taylor one-yard touchdown run with 8:32 left in the fourth quarter. On the ensuing possession, the Texans marched into the red zone, but Dayo Odeyingbo stripped the ball out of the hands of Houston running back Joe Mixon to give the Colts the ball back.
The Colts couldn’t get past midfield on the final possession and Richardson was sacked on the game’s final play by Danielle Hunter.
Taylor finished with 105 yards on 20 carries for Indianapolis to go along with the touchdown. Downs had 109 yards receiving with the touchdown. Six other Colts pass catchers caught one pass.
Mixon led the Texans in rushing with 102 yards on 25 carries with a rushing touchdown. Texans quarterback CJ Stroud ended up with 285 yards passing with a touchdown while completing 25 of 37 passes.
The Texans lead the AFC South with the win at 6-2. The Colts are 4-4, but their record is 1-3 on the road.
Houston also defeated Indianapolis in the opening game of the season 29-27.
