INDIANAPOLIS — Indianapolis Colts are facing another hit to their already young secondary. NFL Network says second-year cornerback JuJu Brents is likely to be out for the season due to a knee injury that will require surgery. The Colts are placing Brents, a Warren Central High School alum, who was injured. There is a chance he could return late in the season, but the focus is on making sure he’s fully healthy for 2025.
ESPN says Brents was injured during Sunday’s game against the Houston Texans, but he managed to play through it. It’s not the first time he’s been sidelined either. Brents, who was picked in the second round of the 2023 NFL Draft, missed much of his rookie season due to a quad injury, only appearing in nine games. Unfortunately, he’s been injury-prone since joining the Colts, also dealing with wrist and hamstring issues. He left the Week 18 matchup against the Texans because of that hamstring injury.
This preseason wasn’t smooth sailing for him either. Brents broke his nose in a preseason game against the Arizona Cardinals but was able to rehab and start in the Colts’ season opener against the Texans last Sunday, where he had seven tackles in their 29-27 loss.
The Colts are gearing up for their only road trip in September this weekend in Green Bay. The Packers will be without their starting quarterback Jordan Love, who was also injured with a sprained MCL. Kickoff is set for 1:00.
