Actress Gena Rowlands Dead at 94

INDIAN WELLS, Calif. — Actress Gena Rowlands has died at the age of 94.
Deadline reports that she died Wednesday afternoon at her home in Indian Wells, California. A cause of death wasn’t given, but Rowlands had apparently been battling Alzheimer’s disease.

The actress had more than 100 acting credits to her name, for films such as “Faces,” “A Woman Under the Influence,” and “Gloria.” To younger audiences, she might have been best known for her role in “The Notebook.”
Throughout her career, she won various awards, including Emmys, Golden Globes, and an Honorary Oscar. She officially retired from Hollywood in 2015, though her last credited project was a 2017 short film.
She is survived by her husband, Robert Forrest, and three children, including actor and filmmaker Nick Cassavetes.
