PLYMOUTH, Ind. — The man who last saw Mercedes Lain alive is now charged with her murder.
Justin Miller is the man whom Lain’s parents left her with for a weekend earlier in August. The little girl, not even a year old, ended up missing and Miller later led police to where her body was in a rural part of Starke County.
The coroner says she had been hit in the head. Investigators are now saying it was Miller who did so and now he is charged with murder, on top of the neglect resulting in death charges.
Lain’s parents are also charged with neglect.
