Indiana resident Malik Muhammad, 24, was arrested Friday and charged with trying to kill a police officer in Portland, Oregon during the summer riots of 2020.

According to authorities in Portland, Muhammad threw a firebomb at an officer in September, which scorched the officer’s uniform. They also say Muhammad is responsible for tens of thousands of dollars in damages from October.

There’s one other thing to know about Malik Muhammad: He shook hands with Indiana Governor Eric Holcomb at a meeting that took place just days after Muhammad led a group of protestors on a march up Meridian to the Governor’s Residence.

The meeting was reportedly made possible thanks to a “friend” Muhammad made earlier days prior to the protest march who knows Governor Holcomb, according to WIBC news-gathering partner, WISH-TV.

Muhammad faces a 28-count grand jury indictment in Multnomah County, filed March 22:

  • Attempted aggravated murder (two counts);
  • Attempted assault in the first degree (two counts);
  • Attempted murder in the first degree (four counts);
  • Attempted murder in the second degree (two counts);
  • Criminal mischief in the first degree (six counts);
  • Riot (four counts);
  • Unlawful manufacture of a destructive device (two counts);
  • Unlawful possession of a destructive device (two counts);
  • Unlawful possession of a firearm (one count);
  • Unlawful possession of a loaded firearm (one count);
  • Unlawful use of a weapon (two counts).

I don’t even have a speeding ticket on my record and I can’t get a meet and greet with Gov. Holcomb. What the heck?

WIBC host Rob Kendall expressed utter disbelief that Muhammad managed to get up close and personal with the Holcomb mere days after leading a group of potentially violent protestors on a march to the governor’s mansion. Hear his comments by clicking on the link below.
