Bagged, Loose Peaches the “Likely” Source of Salmonella Outbreak
WASHINGTON — Some peaches sold at stores across the country are being recalled because they’ve been named a “likely source” of a Salmonella outbreak.
The CDC says the peaches, distributed and sold by Prima Wawona or Wawona Packing Company, are linked to 68 cases of Salmonella in nine states.
Wawona and Wawona Organic peaches distributed and sold from June 1 through August 19 are being recalled.
The recall includes bagged and loose peaches supplied to stores nationwide including Aldi, Kroger, Jay-C, Target, and Walmart.
If you know you have some Wawona peaches, check to see if they include one of the following affected product codes:
- Wawona Peaches – 033383322001
- Wawona Organic Peaches – 849315000400
- Prima® Peaches – 766342325903
- Organic Marketside Peaches – 849315000400
- Kroger Peaches – 011110181749
The recalled loose peaches may have the following stickers with PLU numbers on them: 4037, 4038, 4044, 4401, 94037, 94038, 94044, 94401.
The FDA recommends that anyone who is unsure whether they purchased peaches supplied by Prima Wawona — or can’t remember when they bought their peaches — should throw them away.
Anyone who is sure they purchased the affected peaches should not eat them and throw them away.
