GRANT COUNTY, Ind. — A Grant County man charged with child molesting is now accused of hiring a hit man.
Randy McKinney is accused of molesting his 5-year-old granddaughter. On Monday, detectives told a judge he also hired a hit man to kill the girl’s mother, Ashley Lopez.
The attempt to have Lopez killed, police say, came from sexual abuse allegations made by his granddaughter last summer.
The girl told her mother that McKinney made her do bad things, and touched her inappropriately, said ABC 21.
After he was accused, McKinney made arrangements with a hit man who turned out to be an undercover cop.
Detectives testified that McKinney hired the hit man and said to make the death look like an overdose, before changing his mind to wanting her shot.
McKinney is set to return to court December 11th.
