WASHINGTON, D.C. — Michael Cohen’s lawyer says Cohen told another lawyer to look into getting a pardon from President Trump last year.
That contradicts testimony Cohen gave last week before the House Oversight Committee when the former long-time personal lawyer said he’d never asked for, nor would he accept, a pardon from the president.
This is sparking new speculation on Capitol Hill that Cohen may have lied to Congress for a second time.
Cohen heads to prison in May for lying to Congress and campaign finance violations. Cohen’s current attorney, Lanny Davis, made the revelation about the pardon to the Wall Street Journal.
It’s the second time Davis has contradicted Cohen’s testimony.
Last week Davis said that Cohen had considered trying to get a job at the White House, something Cohen denied before Congress.
