Two Injured in Early Morning Shooting on Indy’s Near West Side

INDIANAPOLIS — Two people were injured, one critically, in a shooting early this morning on the near west side.
Police responded to a shots fired call at 54 North Addison Street around 3 a.m. Upon arrival, they found a woman with a gunshot wound. A short time later, they discovered a man, also shot, near the corner of the residence.
Both victims were taken to Eskenazi Hospital. The man is in critical condition, while the woman is in stable condition, though her injuries were not specified.
Police limited details about the shooting due to a language barrier. According to Capt. Don Weilhammer, initial information suggests the incident may have stemmed from a neighbor dispute. Officers have detained several people for questioning, but their involvement remains unclear.
A caller reported that the suspect or suspects fled to a nearby home at 66 N Addison. Police secured the property and are awaiting a search warrant. Shell casings were found on the front porch.
Police have not yet been able to provide a description of the shooter(s) from the victims, but detectives are working with an interpreter at the hospital. Several people have been detained, though their role in the incident is still under investigation.
