Two Inmates Charged Over Death of Another Inmate at Plainfield Prison

PLAINFIELD, Ind.–Two inmates at Heritage Trails Correctional Facility in Plainfield are facing felony charges after a prison attack resulted in the death of another inmate.
Julius Stokes and Damarayon Harrison are charged with aggravated battery, reckless homicide, and battery resulting in bodily injury.
The incident occurred on March 19, 2024, when Stokes punched Devin Carter, causing him to fall and hit his head on the floor. Carter later died from a brain injury, with the autopsy confirming blunt force trauma as the cause of death.
If convicted, Stokes and Harrison could face up to 16 years in prison.
