Near East Side Hit-and-Run Leaves Woman Dead

INDIANAPOLIS — A woman died after a hit-and-run crash on the near east side of Indianapolis Saturday night.
Police say she was hit while crossing East Washington Street near Oxford Street around 7:20 p.m. Officers first responded to East Washington and Rural Streets but later found her at Oxford Street.
She was taken to the hospital in critical condition and later died.
A witness told police the driver took off westbound on Washington Street.
Police have not released a description of the suspect or the vehicle. Investigators have spoken to one witness so far.
