Meridian Street Officer Involved Shooting

It was a violent weekend in Indianapolis, with at least 9 people being shot in a span of just 4 hours Sunday morning.

Below is a timeline of the shootings:

1AM IMPD officers responded to 2310 E. 40th Street on a report of a person shot. Officers arrived and did not locate a victim. Officers then were dispatched to Community East Hospital on a report of a walk-in person shot. Officers located the victim awake and breathing. It is believed the victim, located at Community East, was shot in the 2300 block of E. 40th Street.

1:12AM IMPD officers responded to 720 Eskenazi Avenue on a report of a walk-in person shot. Officers arrived and located a victim with injuries consistent with a gunshot wound(s). The victim is awake and breathing.

1:18AM IMPD officers responded to 1701 Senate Blvd. (I.U. Health Methodist Hospital) on a report of a walk-in person shot. The victim is awake and breathing. The shooting happened at 4215 East New York Street. 2 people shot – 1 person died.

2:35AM A fight at 4215 East New York Street started inside the Liquor Barn between two men. It ended up outside the parking lot. One pulled a gun, ended up both with consistent gunshot wounds. One was deceased on scene, and the other victim ended up in critical condition over at Eskenazi hospital.

2:49AM IMPD called to 2620 Lasalle for an adult male shot. No witnesses.

3:18AM Officers were called to the Brass Flamingo Nightclub at 4011 Southeastern avenue on a report of shots fired. Police believe a disturbance occurred inside the establishment and someone yelled that “he was going to go out to get his gun.” From there, it spilled out into the parking lot where shots rang out, and that’s when an adult male was shot. Police are speaking with numerous witnesses, but are still asking for witnesses to come forward.

4AM: Person shot at 2522 South Randolph Street. IMPD arrived and located a victim with injuries consistent with a gunshot wound (s). The victim is awake and breathing.

4:17AM: Person shot at 4026 Congaree Drive. IMPD officers responded to a report of a person shot. Officers arrived and located a victim with injuries consistent with a gunshot wound (s). The victim is awake and breathing.
