SOUTHPORT, Ind. — A Southport police officer shot a person early this morning on the south side of Indianapolis.
It was at an apartment complex along Madison Avenue near Stop 11 Road. Indiana State Police say the driver of a car would not stop and led as they tried to pull them over.
The driver led them to the apartment complex where they say the driver got out of the car and tried to run away. That’s when troopers say the driver fired at least one shot at the pursuing officer.
The officer fired back wounding the man. He’s expected to be okay. State Police are now handling the investigation.
