INDIANAPOLIS —Two teenagers were arrested for an armed carjacking and robbery on the near north side of Indianapolis on Sunday evening, according to the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department.
IMPD says they got a call and went to the 1500 block of Alabama Street. When they arrived, someone reported that four armed and masked people had stolen their belongings. Police used technology to track down the car. After a short chase, they made two arrests.
Eighteen-year-old Leandrew Beasley and nineteen-year-old Derrick Johnson face charges of armed robbery and resisting law enforcement.
“There are two additional suspects still at large,” says Officer Drew Brown. “Detectives are actively continuing to search for both of them.”
Police say that if you ever find yourself in a situation where someone is demanding your belongings and threatening your life, it’s best to give up your property. Your life is more important than anything material.
“There are times when following their demands may be beneficial,” says Brown. “If they take your vehicle and no harm is done to you, you can relay that suspect information to police.”
Police made these arrests using license plate reader information. Technology is becoming more important in helping law enforcement solve violent crimes. Indianapolis Police also have a community program called B-Link that helps them collect video footage from homes and businesses to solve crimes or identify people involved in criminal activity.
