Craig Collins in for Tony Katz

Craig Collins:

My name is Craig Collins filling in thrilled to be with you. We have a bunch of stuff to talk about and am thrilled to have Tony Katz live from Washington DC again. You’re still in DC right?

Tony Katz:

I am still in DC. I’ll head out a little bit later today. Getting ready now to head over to Union Station where the big damage took place.

The protesters yesterday were so quiet. They were so boring. All I mean, full of lies, full of hate, full of the, the everything that we’ve seen from this, this crew. But it was after the speech from Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu that they decided, OK, now we’ll be exactly what we are. You’re talking about people who were in full regalia claiming to be Hamas. You’re talking about very pasty white kids and really white guys and really obese white women and black men and women. And Asian men and women all in in in wearing keffiyeh that they don’t even know what it stands for. All wearing masks and they don’t even know why. Engaged in graffiti, The destruction of property. You could see the videos actually trying to throw cops off of people that they are arresting. For a short while there, Union Station, it was an ugly scene, and it could have been much worse.

Craig Collins:

Yeah, I have seen some of the videos that seem to demonstrate moments where cops are getting attacked by a protesters and things seem reminiscent. I know you said yesterday you don’t want to call it insurrection because of the stupidity… I don’t want to put words in your mouth, but I think the stupidity of how January 6th is discussed itself, but there are videos if you want to go find them that look very similar in how you know behavior exists that day compared to other things. What did you think of the speech from Netanyahu itself?

Tony Katz:

Well, to the first point, I would like to know in Indiana who is calling this out. Of course, that’s where I’m based. Let’s go to any state where there’s a local race, municipal race, a governor’s race. Who’s calling what out? Who is saying that this is wrong? To all the people who want to say the January 6th is wrong and I’ve never stopped them from saying so. Sure. Isn’t this wrong? Why aren’t the George Floyd riots wrong as well?

Craig Collins:

Yes, absolutely, 100% they are. And the videos that you can see, and I’m sure they’re selectively edited or, you know, selectively picked. I do see a lot of violent protesters beating the crap out of Capital Police, which is, again, as I said, very reminiscent to what you were presented whenever media showed you those. Videos of some other stuff, but absolutely it should be get called out is wrong.

Tony Katz:

And yet it shouldn’t take 12 hours. And yet I haven’t seen it. It may be out there. Let’s start looking and asking these people who want to run for office those questions. But let’s get into the speech, Netanyahu speech there. There are a couple ways to take this first. First things first, it was a warm reception in the room and people where I was sitting in the gallery.

It was referred to it as a warm speech. It wasn’t. He wasn’t detached. He wasn’t cold. He did the things that we thought he would do. He was very thankful to the United States for their support. He was very appreciative of the relationship between Israel and the United States. We knew that was coming. That was the that was the standard part. It was a war speech. From beginning to end, this was Benjamin Netanyahu telling America and telling the world we have absolutely no plans of stopping. We’re going to survive. You’re going to have to figure it out. This is a message to whatever is left of of Hamas. This is a message to Hezbollah, which is all a message to Iran because it was a message to the Houthi rebels as well. This isn’t going to end. He discussed the fact that it is the United States and Israel against Iran in order to create a better world. He discussed when Israel goes on the offensive against Iran and stops them from getting a nuclear weapon. It is Israel in defense of America and America’s children. Those kinds of conversations, which is very, very strong stuff. It then got, I think, a little more intense in ways that I wasn’t expecting, especially when you get into him talking about the protesters. I did not expect that. The crowd did not expect that calling them if, if you are gays for Palestine, you might as well hold the sign that says. Chickens for KFC.

That is a spectacular line and shows I mean, remember he’s an American educated guy. His total command of of American culture and American idioms really does work for him has always worked for him in his in entire career. His saying thanks to the fraternity guys, the University of North Carolina for protecting the American flag. How important it is to love one’s nation in that regard. It was a very strong speech. It was very well delivered. It was very well received. And those are just some of the highlights. I’m going to have a more about this when I when I get back into the studio. But a very strong speech that should leave nobody questioning whether Israel is going to fight to the end of the terrorists.

Craig Collins:

Sure. I saw it described in a lot of places as a fiery speech, as things that you’re kind of saying and it being a wartime speech. But at the same time, some things that you’re saying, you don’t hear any of mainstream media or left-leaning media say about how warmly those moments were received. I did play that audio of him saying out loud that Gays for Palestine signs. Akin to chicken for KFC, because it is an incredible line, and it came after a standing ovation and him saying how little makes sense of the groups that are protesting this kind of stuff. If you were to, you know, respond to some of the mainstream media version of fiery speech or defiant speech or whatever it would be, what would you actually categorize how Netanyahu behave beyond what you just said?

Tony Katz:

Well, people can call it fiery and defiant because they have a very limited use of vocabulary, and they don’t want to give Netanyahu too much credit. This was a statement. We’re here, we’re not going anywhere, and we’re ready to fight. And hey, America, if you send us more weapons, we’ll fight faster. If you let us get more weapons, we’ll do this quicker. It was one of the things that’s really striking is how different this was than let’s say Vladimir Zelensky of Ukraine and how he approaches the United States, which is more “Gimme, Gimme, Gimme,” as opposed to Israel saying we’re in this fight, it’s helping you. If you help us more, we can get this done faster and then everybody gets to have lunch. So, it was it was it was very, very well delivered in that regard. But the best moment that… You may have seen some video of it. Trust me, I was. I was there in the gallery. I’m in the corner. And in front of me down on the House floor is Congresswoman Rashida Tlaib, who I shared an elevator with, and that’s another story for another day. And then it’s Netanyahu. She’s holding this sign on one side. It says war criminal. And then it’s like a paddle. And you flip it over, it says guilty of genocide. And she’s holding that up during the speech.

and there are moments you know, Netanyahu sees it and he’s mostly looking to his left, where the Republicans would be anyway. But every now and then he turns to the right where the Democrats are, and you can mostly tell. You can’t perfectly tell he’s looking directly at her.
It was incredible to witness.
