UPDATE: The Marion County coroner has identified the man as 27-year-old Kyle Moorman. The children found dead have been identified as 1-year-old Kyran Holland, 2-year-old Kyannah Holland, and 5-year-old Kyle Moorman II. All four had been missing since last Wednesday.

INDIANAPOLIS — The Indianapolis Metro Police Dept. and Indy Fire Dept. were searching a pond at Bluff Rd. and Troy Ave. on the city’s southwest side, Tuesday evening. It’s an area where Kyle Moorman frequently fished and where his family believes he may have been when he and his three small kids went missing Wednesday.

Police confirmed that a man’s body was recovered at 7:40 p.m. They did not provide an ID, saying that would come from the coroner’s office.

Boats and rafts were being used to search the water and banks.

Officer Samone Burris said after they got a call about a body in the water they responded and located that body. They then called the Indianapolis Fire Dept. for assistance from their dive team, along with the help of DNR Conservation Officers.

A few hours later the worst seemed to be realized.

“An adult male was pulled from the body of water … and pronounced dead at the scene,” said Assistant Police Chief with IMPD Chris Bailey. “IFD dive team and DNR located a vehicle at the bottom of that same body of water. Three children were found inside deceased.”

Bailey confirmed that there was a death investigation underway. They don’t know yet why the car ended up in the water.

“We’re still working to positively ID the individuals involved, but there is commonality with the Moorman family,” Bailey added. “We can’t verify, in fact, that Kyle Moorman and his three children … were inside that car in the pond. But, at this point, all signs point to them.”

Moorman, along with Kyle Moorman II, 5, Kyannah Holland, 2, and Kyran Holland, 1, went missing last Wednesday never returning from a fishing trip, according to their family.
