INDIANAPOLIS — Veterans put their lives on the line when they go into battle – the sacrifices they make mean a better life for you. When a vet comes home, it’s up to the community to make life better for them.

Helping Veterans and Families of Indiana is an organization that helps veterans in a variety of ways, whether that vet happens to be down on their luck or just trying to press restart on life.

Timothy Wright is one of those Hoosier veterans. He served in the Persian Gulf war, had some run-ins with the law, and spent time behind bars. But since then, he’s earned several degrees from Ball State, and spends his time helping troubled kids. He tells WIBC News it’s all thanks to HVAF of Indiana for helping him get back on his feet.
