In July of 2020, just days after Joe Biden declared that he would “transform” the country if elected, Vermont Sen. Bernie Sanders, a self-avowed Socialist, openly stated that Biden could become the “most progressive president” since Franklin D. Roosevelt.

Sanders’ remarks were prompted by a task force set up by the two former political opponents to provide a set of recommendations for the Democratic party’s convention platform.

“The compromise they came up with, if implemented, will make Biden the most progressive president since FDR,” Sanders told MSNBC at the time.

Now, as the Democratic convention gets underway this week in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, Biden has affirmed his intention if elected to implement exactly the type of radical progressive policies Bernie Sanders favors.

In fact, Biden even used the EXACT same language in his declaration last Friday at a prominent progressive gathering.

First, Biden praised “the climate activists,” “the caregivers,” and “the advocates” who first understood that “health care is a right,” before adding that, “We can do these things, but only if we defeat Donald Trump.”

Of course, Biden is no stranger to plagiarism. In fact, it was his tendency to steal from other people’s work is what derailed his 1988 Presidential election bid.

Fun Facts About Franklin D. Roosevelt:

  • Roosevelt also normalized relations with the Soviet Union, which the United States had refused to recognize since the 1920s. Roosevelt hoped to renegotiate the Russian debt from World War I and open trade relations. How ironic, eh Trump haters?
  • The rejection of the Treaty of Versailles in 1919–1920 marked the dominance of isolationism in American foreign policy. Again, how ironic.
  • In 1941 Roosevelt proposed that Congress enact an income tax rate of 99.5% on all income over $100,000; when the proposal failed, he issued an executive order imposing an income tax of 100% on income over $25,000, which Congress rescinded.
  • The Revenue Act of 1942 instituted top tax rates as high as 94% and instituted the first federal withholding tax.
  • In 1944, Roosevelt requested that Congress enact legislation that would tax all “unreasonable” profits, both corporate and individual.

Gee, another FDR. Sounds great… No, really!
