WNBA: MAY 20 Atlanta Dream at Indiana Fever

INDIANAPOLIS–The Indiana Fever dropped their first game of the season Tuesday night against the Atlanta Dream 91-90.

The Dream led by as many as 14. They outrebounded the Fever 37-32 and shot 78% from the free throw line while the Fever only made 62% of their foul shots (16-26).

Indiana entered the fourth quarter down 11 but rallied to take an 90-89 lead on two Aliyah Boston free throws, but then Kelsey Mitchell fouled Rhyne Howard. Howard made two free throws. Natasha Howard missed the next shot for Indiana, got an offensive rebound and then missed another shot before Atlanta’s Nia Coffey got the rebound to secure the win for Atlanta.

In the losing effort, Indiana’s Caitlin Clark scored 27 points and dished out 11 assists. She was followed by Boston and Mitchell each having 24 points. Brittney Griner led Atlanta with 21 points and 8 rebounds. Brionna Jones had 19 points and 13 rebounds for Atlanta.

Both Indiana and Atlanta are now 1-1. They play each other again Thursday night at 7:30 pm.
